I dreamt of zombies last night. (And no, I haven't seen any zombie movies since I Am Legend, which was Christmas last year. Does Cloverfield or the trailer for Fringe count?) They wore a thin white film over their faces. The white film either came from their mouths when they changed or they grabbed it from somewhere. I can't remember. And the people around me became zombies rather randomly. It was some unknown trigger, but I don't know what, and that lack of knowledge is freaky. But it wasn't really a nightmare. Sure, it was a little scary, with the chasing and the running and the grabbing, but I wasn't really frightened out of my wits. Everything was just white. And green. There were trees and water. But not the murky humid kind. It was more of, ethereal. Yeah, zombies with white faces in a fairytale setting. Brain, what's up?

Oh Twilight fandom. While I'm not one of the pioneer fans, I like to think of myself as one of the earlier ones, before the fandom exploded with a million pre-teens. I got it for my birthday in February last year, and I brought New Moon a week later. I love the book for the guilty pleasures it offers, the innocence it invokes, and the epic love it represents. Now, maybe it's the hype surrounding RPrattz and KStew, maybe it's the fandom itself, I find Twilight... ridiculous. I've read the first chapter of Breaking Dawn, and my first impression was that it's funny. Cheesy-lame funny, not sweet-cute funny. Maybe I've been exposed to the glittery comments on ONTD for too many times. Before this August, I definitely need to shut off from the fandom (and hatedom), curl up with a cup of iced tea, and recapture the magic of Edward Cullen.

Rachael Yamagata - Loose Ends EP (2008)

I adore this woman. A lot. I saw her in concert last year, and she was beyond amazing. She has the uncanny ability to twirl complicated emotions into her raspy voice and exquisite lyrics. I've been looking forward to her new album for ages now. This EP serves as a preview to the new album, which I expect will be a splendid sophomore offering.

And is this me posting an album with every entry? I don't know. Do you want me to? Perhaps as penance for being missing for almost 6 months? There's just a whole bunch of new releases this year that I really want to share. The Submarines, Nada Surf, The National, The Weepies, The Raveonettes, etc. 2008 is a good year for music. I don't even know what my Album of the Year will be.

I'm probably going to watch it too, just because. You know when it comes out here?

No problem. Will do it when I get home. I had no idea you were a fan. And I assume you have their debut album and is asking for their new album, Honeysuckle Weeks?

I'm still about the Cullen. But I've always been neutral towards Jacob. Hey, maybe re-reading will change my perspective...or not. =P

Alright alright. I got it. =D

I was never a big fan of Twilight, although I read the first book, but the more crazy parts of the fandom makes me cringe and actually dislike it. :/ Which is kinda sad. I am looking forward to the movie though. :P

YAY music! I like when you're posting albums! And I snagged those songs you posted by Rachel way back when so I'm definitely taking this EP. Thanks!

I don't think I will dislike it. For now, and in the future, I hope. I'm not the kind whose interest gets easily swayed by fandom, but the Twilight fandom is nuttier than nuts.

Hope you like the EP! To be honest, I haven't really listened to it. =P I keep forgetting to sync it with my iPod. Argh.

I'm just glad I try to avoid the craziness that is the TWILIGHT fandom. We have some 'harsh' & 'bitchy' & 'picky' fans.Geez.

I do plan on trying re-read all three books before Breaking Dawn.Because it's been a little over a year since I've read all three books.I remember first reading Twilight in April or May.And then trying hurry up reading New Moon towards last few weeks of May because I was going on Trip Colorado and I wanted finish before then.

Do you have Breaking Dawn Pre-ordered? I Pre-Ordered from Amazon. I should get the book about 3 days after the release. So I'll be few days behind.

I refuse to try read the first Chapter of Breaking Dawn.Because I want to wait til August 2nd.

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 03:26am on 04/06/2008
Yeah, that fandom is strange, to put it mildly.

Nope, I don't have it pre-ordered yet. Not sure how long shipping it here will take. I probably will ask the stores here when they'll bring in the books before I decide where to get it.

Heh, yeah, waiting is good too. I just know that the internet will be bursting with spoilers coming August. I have no idea how I'm going to avoid that. =P

I have dreams about zombies all the time too (that makes me kinda weird, but ah well), but most of the time I'm kicking their ass in them.

And how long have we been waiting for Rachael's new album? I vaguely remember her at the concert saying it would be out that Fall. Hmm.

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 03:35am on 04/06/2008
Kicking ass is awesome. I vaguely remember another recent dream about zombies. But that one is really so vague that I wonder if I actually did dreamt it.

Yeah! I remember that too. But I suppose it's worth the wait. =)

I feel exactly the same way about Twilight! It used to be so amazing, and in the early days I used to swoon over Edward just like the rest of the fans, but now after all these pre-teen (and even teen) girls starting gushing over him, I'm a little embarrassed. I just can't get into it anymore. I saw that MTV clip and was just like, "this looks...kind of lame"

I love it when people remember their dreams, especially interesting ones like this. My dreams are usually mundane, real life kind of things, but yours sound much more exciting. :)

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 03:50am on 04/06/2008
Yeah, I feel old. =P

My dreams are always kinda crazy and weird (dead cats, a ancient library of sorts with strange books, etc). Does it mean I'm crazier than you? Hm. Probably.

posted by [identity profile] americangrl69.livejournal.com at 03:41pm on 03/06/2008
That was a really strange dream. I've had weird dreams but nothing like that.

I actually like weird dreams. It's fun remembering them and trying to decipher hidden meanings or something. =D

wow what a weird and scary dream. it could be from a movie you've seen recently lol I have had dreams weeks after i've seen a movie and I'm always like WTF? how did I dream of that?

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 06:00am on 04/06/2008
That is possible, but I can't remember any zombie movies like that. Maybe it's some strange combination of 30 Days of Nights with Stardust or something. =D

I love the Weepies and Frou Frou those are good bands :D Hear Me out they played on Dawson's Creek if you ever watched that show and also played the Weepies too I believe but not that particular song :)

I've never read the Twilight Books it doesn't really sound like my type of thing so I'm kind of sick of hearing about it to be honest *looks around* lol.

Rachael Yamagata is really good I love her stuff!

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 06:02am on 04/06/2008
Really? No, I didn't watch Dawson's Creek, but that's awesome!

Oh it's fine. It's way too hyped up, really.

Enjoy the EP then! Oh, and I love your icon. I really wanna see the movie.

Like every post that I've seen lately has had to do with Twilight. Okay, obviously not every post, but still. I'm kind of surprised. The only people who read it around here are the emo kids. I saw the preview for it the other day, when I went to see The Strangers. Robert Pattinson is still looking fine.

I like album/music posts. I don't always take the material but appreciate it. I've discovered quite a few bands based on peoples' recommendations and music posts. :)

I only picked up Twilight umm.. a month and a half or so back. Twilight was good, it felt fresh and I loved the epic love story, but New Moon and Eclipse (which I'm in the middle of finishing), while having a pretty interesting plot, were just really poorly written in my opinion D: Eclipse especially, geez, the book could have been about half as thick, there's just too much random (pointless) stuff for my tastes.
I've managed to steer clear from the crazyfandom except for the glitter!comments on ontd :D, so I'm actually looking forward to the movie.

Thanks for posting the EP! I enjoy some of Rachael's songs and I'm looking forward to her new stuff!

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 06:32am on 04/06/2008
Heh, at least it wasn't as thick as Order of the Phoenix. Wonder how many pages there will be for Breaking Dawn.

Ah, the glitter!comments. Oh gosh.

You're welcome. Enjoy the songs. =)

posted by [identity profile] unageing.livejournal.com at 03:22am on 04/06/2008
RACHAEL! God I fucking love her. So yeah, obviously snagging.

Also, I have yet to finish Eclipse and yes, I am aware that I suck. However a five hour flight without TV and a few nights with the adopted grandparents will surely solve that problem.

YAY! Enjoy the songs!

Well, take your time. The next book is still 2 months away. =D

I read Twilight about a month ago, after seeing a billion posts on it on ONTD ;)
and yeah, I think it is the community corrupting you, because I definitely laughed my way through all three books. They were a quick, one-day read. It was enjoyable, as long as I didn't think too hard about it. But yeah, I'm gonna see the movie with my friends. -shrug- I try to avoid the fandom like the plague, but one of my friends is a rabid Cullen fangirl.

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 06:42am on 04/06/2008
Heh. Oh no, that is kinda bad. I think. =D

I'm probably going to watch the movie too, but I think I might laugh really loudly at certain parts.

hahaha! yeah! i'm starting to recapture the essence of edward cullen.
just finished reading twilight, will read new moon later.

wow, me too. i consider myself one of the earlier fans. but, not a pioneer one.

right now? it's just soo crazy.
all i see is the paperback in bookstores.
so, of course, more and more people will read it.

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 06:47am on 04/06/2008
That's fast! I'm probably gonna start mid-July and slowly make my way through the 3 books.

Yeah, I see it everywhere too. Even The Host is on the main shelves with all the other best sellers.

re three: I couldn't agree more! It seems almost bi-weekly I am whittling down my TWL lj communities, because honestly they are making my brain hurt with the spam and cheese. I just want to love Edward Cullen in peace away from the tweenies, is that so very wrong?

re four: Thank you so much, I've heard a few of her things and greatly appreciate the album.

So glad to hear from you. I have been semi-absent myself, I just can't be motivated to post that much lately. I blame the strike and the TWL fandom of course. ')

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 03:06am on 05/06/2008
I agree. We, the non-tweenies, need to stick together. I'm kinda tired of the cheese and being mocked right along with the pre-teens.

Enjoy the songs!

Glad to hear from you too. Yeah, the strike kinda upset my entire American TV-watching and LJ-ing about it. I still have 10 more episodes of Smallville unwatched, and a few of Friday Night Lights. Not the mention the entire season of Lost and One Tree Hill. Oh gosh.

one: c-a-reeeeepy
three: some of the...bad...twilight fandom pre-teen stuff is making me not want to read at all, which sucks, since a girl at work experience really recommended it...hmm

Nada surf have a new release? :O did not know!

You should try to read it. Ignore the fandom. =P

Yup! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_%28Nada_Surf_album%29) I'll post it in a few days.

3: I prefer private fanning over the mass fanning that occurs elsewhere. It suits me just fine to discuss with only three people about Twilight.
Mind you, I've never really gotten into the fandom, except for like seven days before I realised most of them don't have their wits about them.
I'm still somewhat excited though over the fourth book and the movie, although the latter only because it's the kind of thing I'd have a good giggle over how well/badly they managed to transition it.

I still find it alarming that I read Twilight and loved it about 3 years ago before New Moon even came out and it seemed to be such a quiet little book that I forgot about it until recently.

posted by [identity profile] somersaulter.livejournal.com at 03:10am on 06/06/2008
Private fanning is good. I got my best friend into the books, so I mostly just talk to her about it. I was in the fandom in the earlier days, good times. Now it's batshit crazy. I honestly don't need 87528037013 icon posts with the same few pictures.

I'm strangely excited about the movie as well. I fear I'll laugh through half of it. =D

3 years? Wow, I had no idea it had been around for that long!
