Supernatural 2.14 - Born Under A Bad Sign

1. Oh wow. Beautiful. The sharp cutting in and out of shots. Jensen. Rainy day. Just beautiful.
2. Ooh, blood, bad. And for the record, in my head, Dean runs into the motel room and engulfs his little brother in a great big hug. But it's just in my head. Damn.
3. "...under the name Richard Sambora." *snickers* Bon Jovi fan?
4. "That was over a week ago." Wait. Dean had been looking for Sam and angst-ing for a week. Wow. It's miracle he didn't freak out and start punching walls or something. Wait, maybe he did. Hm.
5. "This guy." "This guy?" Hee.
6. "Guy's a chimmey."  Petrol-station-guy is cool.
7. Oh no. Dead guy.
8. Oh no. Dead hunter.
9. Oh no. Evil Sammy. Who drives a very uncool car, smokes menthols, drinks malt liquor and kills hunters? Oh no.
10. You know, Dean would make a very good criminal. "Wipe the prints, then we go."
11. "Dean, you promised him! You promised me! I don't wanna hurt anyone else. I don't wanna hurt you." He shoves the gun into Dean's hand and they eyefuck stare at each other.  "I can't. I'd rather die." *squee and makes tiny little noises*
12. Ouch! DEAN! NO! *wails* Bad Sammy!
13. "Justin is quite the triple threat."
14. Oh. Hi, Jo.
15. "See, Dean, he likes you, sure, but not like the way you want." Ouch.
16. Uh. Wow. I've always been more Sam/Jo than Dean/Jo. That's kinda hot. In a twisted way.
17. "My daddy shot your daddy in the head" "I hear things." Evil! Sam is very hot. VERY hot.
18. Choosing between Sam and Jo? This is like a bad fanfic. And the answer is so bloody obvious.
19. HOLY WATER!
20. Dean vs. Possessed!Sam. Very nice.
21. HE SHOT HIM. HE SHOT HIM!
22. And of course he's not dead.
23. "No, you won't."
24. Bobby! No no no no. Oh. Okay. He's smart.
25. I laughed out loud when Dean smacked Possessed!Sam awake. Hahaha.
26. OUCH. OUCH. OUCH. OUCH. *wails* DEANNNNNNNNN.
27. "But whatever I do to you, it's nothing compared to what you do to yourself, is it? I can see it in your eyes, Dean, you're worthless, you could save your Dad, and deep down, you know you'll never save your brother. They'd have been better off without you."
28. Love that final punch from Dean. It says "I love you bitch."
29. "No matter what I did, you didn't shoot."
30. "If it's the last thing I do, I'm gonna save you."

Oh. My. God. This is made of awesome. AWESOME. Spectacularly awesome. Crazy awesome. Lots of awesome. From the very beginning with the cool shots of Dean all worried, to the stupid joke at the end, all awesome.

And may I say how HOT Jared/Possessed!Sam was! Jensen, you're cute and I love you, but oh Jared, you're awesome as evil. SO HOT. Wonderful performance.

And Jo. If you absolutely hate her guts, stop reading this paragraph. Move on. I have always been neutral about her, always more leaning towards positive. And I like her in this episode. She has definitely matured from No Exit. She's still young and inexperienced, and I still don't think she's ready to be out hunting. She was so easily subdued by Sam, and her "he was possessed?" was laughable, but as I said, she's young, cut her some slack. At least she noticed the scar, even though she didn't know what it was. Dean didn't even pick up on that. With more experience and knowledge, she might become someone. I suppose this episode is some form of a closure for her character, her realizing she could never fit in with the Winchesters, or more specifically with Dean. It's kinda sad. Will we ever see her again? I don't know. I do hope so.

And uh, please tell me I wasn't the only one thinking Possessed!Sam/Jo was hot?

And the other issue here, Dean will never ever shoot Sam. NEVER. Even under the worst possible circumstances, I don't see him ever doing it.

And I hate all the demons for always trying to get under Dean's skin. Always telling him he's worthless. Why the hell are they always doing that? Bad demons. BAD. And so the demon possessed Sam to get back at Dean? Makes sense. It definitely hurt Dean a lot more than it did Sam. Did caused Sam to doubt himself, but he was already doing that all along. Dean was suffering like hell throughout the entire episode, both physically and emotionally. Surprise! What I thought was a Sam-centric episode turns out to be Dean-centric! Or maybe that's the Dean-girl in me talking...

This is not coming out as coherent as I would have preferred it to be. I apologize. My brain is dead. *squee*

And I actually felt the punch in my own stomach when Jo realizes Dean's not going to call her back. I wasn't overly fond of her in the beginning, but if they had written her like this all along? I suspect there'd be a lot less of us in the neutral camp...

Absolutely. And perhaps the argument is that they needed to present her the way they did earlier, for the more mature Jo to have as much of an impact.

But I've got to say... I could see the "new" Jo getting Dean's attention in ways I couldn't see her doing at the beginning of her character arc. Even though I think it's fairly well-established at this point that Dean's not in a head-space for any kind of long-term relationship outside of protecting Sam...but, still. She maintained her calm in the bar, despite still being "new" at the gig and not recognizing things a more experienced hunter would have picked up on earlier...and she was damn clever when looking for Dean.

I think demons do that because they know Dean thinks that way, anyway and they're playing up his weaknesses, trying to make him sad/depressed/despair or whatever. I mean, we know he doesn't think very highly of himself, that his life is worth much, he's constantly reminding us of that. It makes me really sad and angry because he just doesn't see how much of a hero he really is.

Seriously. They keep using the same tricks to get to Dean.

Although I didn't think that got Dean angsting as much as DT. Possibly because it was more telling Dean about him rather than about what Sam thought of him.

And probably because I think the major angst in this episode - and the major angst that the demon caused here - was the whole trying to provoke Dean into shooting Sam thing.

(Might just be me personally but the demons all poking at the same thing all the time is getting kinda redundant :P)

Seriously evil!Sam??? TOO HOT.
And GUH DEAN SO LOVES HIM. Okay we knew that already but "I can´t. I´d rather die" awwwwwwwwww and squeeeeee.

I loved that Dean punched him once he wasn´t possessed anymore bwhahahahha.
And the last scene with both of them laughing, how cute are they.
I can´t seem to put any coherent thoughts together when it comes to Supernatural, all the things I try to write end up turning into añldfjañlsdkfjañlfdskjñasf. :P:P

I love how that the writers know that we know that the boys won't die/kill each other anytime soon, but every episode is done so well that you still feel the tension and that the characters don't know that they're going to make it for sure. Man, this show hurts me so good.

I totally agree with you. That scene was definitely hot... in a twisted way, like you said. Alona has much more chemistry with Jared than with Jensen, and I've just noticed it in this episode (well, they didn't talke to each other that much in the others :p).

I want to see more of that and I really hope this episosode wasn't a closure for the character of Jo.

And that's coming from someone who really didn't like her in the beginning. I started liking her more from No-Exit.

Jared was awesome in this ep! OMG the scene when possessed!sam's beating dean and the blood's coming out of his mouth that just HURT. Seriously poor dean. I know, why are demons always making him feel bad? He so does not deserve it. I totally agree with you bout how this was a dean-centric ep.

Aw I like Jo. I'd totally like to see more of her. I thought she was pretty cool in the ep though Im not a Dean/Jo shipper. I seriously hope she comes back.
