Most fandoms I just sit there and absorb stuff whenever something passes by. Unless it's particularly interesting, I don't usually chase after it.
(But I do know that the spin-off duo TegoMasu is related to one of the big JE groups, only I don't know which.)

But really, the whole JE fandom, as with any other fandoms, you can only discover it yourself, if you know what I mean. I have a close friend who has been talking about KAT-TUN since forever and I've just ignored her, until now. =P
